Family picnic

A picnic by the dam, on a rocky ridge, or along the Amboni river — bring the camera.

There are no fenced picnic sites on Sangare Conservancy, and that is part of the pleasure. You choose a place that feels right: the grass beside the dam, a rocky ridge looking down a valley, or shade in the forest along the Amboni. Spread a blanket. Let the children run where the guide says it is safe. Take the photographs you came for.

A picnic here is not a rushed roadside stop. Giraffe may appear on the far shore. Fish eagles work the water. The light on Mount Kenya changes while you eat. We can pack a hamper from the restaurant — cold drinks, something the kitchen has made that morning — and point you to a spot that suits the weather and the time of day.

Families often pair a picnic with a short nature walk or an hour of bird watching, then return to the pool or the cottage. Tell us the ages in your group and whether you want to stay close to the resort or go a little deeper into the conservancy. We will set it up so the day stays easy, and the pictures come home with you.
